Founding Dean, Office of Executive Education, SMU, 2000-2007

Professor Annie Koh joined Singapore Management University in 2000. Initially working on undergraduate education for the business school, she played a key role in developing SMU’s executive education and professional development programmes, Currently serving as SMU’s vice president for business development and external relations, she is also academic director of The Financial Training Institute, Center for Professional Studies, International Trading Institute and Business Families Institute at SMU. Her previous portfolio includes positions as associate dean, Lee Kong Chian School of Business and dean, Office of Executive & Professional Education.

Prior to joining SMU she was an associate professor of finance and banking at the National University of Singapore.

Professor Koh’s research interests are in family office and family business research, investor behaviour, alternative investments, and enterprise risk management. She publishes in international marketing and finance journals and authored for International Enterprise Singapore’s book on Financing Internationalisation – Growth Strategies for Successful Companies (2004) which has been translated into Chinese. She also co-authored Financial Management: Theory and Practice, An Asia Edition (2014).

A frequent speaker and moderator, Professor Koh has spoken at the World Economic Forum. She also sits on advisory boards, governing councils and steering committees in the financial services and government sectors as well as SMU. She chairs the Asian Bond Fund 2 Supervisory Committee of the Monetary Authority of Singapore, is an Independent Director on the board of k1 Ventures Limited, and on the investment committee of i-Globe, and is Advisor to a number of family businesses. She is Member of the Research and Publications Committee of Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry, World Economic Forum Global Agenda Council for Southeast Asia, and the Advisory Council of the School of Economics and Management at Wuhan University, and was also recently appointed Chief Judge for TAFEP fair employment awards 2014. In 2010 Professor Koh received the Public Administration Medal (Bronze), a prestigious national award.

Professor Koh received her PhD in International Finance from New York University (USA) where she was a Fulbright scholar. She earned her bachelor of social science and economics from the National University of Singapore.
